First off, the salon is sooo charming and cute! But most importantly, Mabel did such a wonderful job cutting my hair! I literally had PTSD walking in for my cut because of my last experience with ex stylist. I have extremely thick hair and don’t need the usual style of cut… she was extremely patient with me and didn’t stop cutting until I was happy! I really appreciate her gentle and kind approach and I am soooo happy with my haircut!!! Thank you honey!!!

Emma Price at Altruist salon is simply amazing. She is so talented while also being incredibly professional. I came in with damaged blonde hair that would not seem to grow and she has worked with me to heal my hair while also allowing it to stay blonde. She knows her stuff! I recommend to everyone who is in need of a cut, color, or really anything go to Emma. She is also so fun and easy to talk to, you won't want your appointment to be over!

Altruist Salon is the best! I am always nervous when it is time to cut my hair, so I am glad I found this gem. It has been my go-to for all of college. Mabel and Stephanie have done amazing jobs whether I’ve gotten a trim or chopped off 8 inches! They both take the time to cut it exactly how I envisioned. And their products have complete changed how I take care of my hair. So thankful for these stylists!

Summer Frazier cut my hair yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I am very much a no-frills person -- I've never dyed my hair or had particularly unique or high maintenance cuts -- but sometimes that makes getting a simple cut awkward b/c I don't want to sound rude or ungrateful if I don't take up stylists on their great ideas for my hair. Because of the pandemic, it had been about 10 mos since my last trim, so I really just wanted someone to lop off the ends. Summer was super friendly, completely fine with me just wanting a trim, and I was out within an hour--complete with blowdry. My hair was soft , shiny, and smelled great, and the head massage was perfect. I'm from LA, but love it in Montana and get up here when I can, so I'm here for a break from work (social services). Altruist is within walking distance of where I'm staying, so it was pure luck I wound up here and I'm so glad I did. Like I said, Summer was super friendly, sharing trails she likes and things to do -- if you're reading this, Summer, we're doing Blue Mountain today! -- and it was neat to hear she and the others at Altruist provide free haircuts at the Missoula Project Community Connect Days organized by The United Way. The fact that I can get a haircut, here (unlike in LA b/c of COVID), and by someone so easy to talk to, at place involved in the community, was icing on the cake of an already great trip. Thank you, Summer and Altruist! I swear I'll be back again someday.

I dont know how else to put this and I apologize for hurting any feelings, but I feel people reading reviews should know. I had to come in for a touch up for several bleach lines that were left at the top of my foil I suppose from my highlight session. They got me in for a touch up, and now I keep coming across SEVERAL highlight strands where only the top portion was highlighted and the bottom half is brown. Its difficult to capture in a photo, but now that I've seen it in real life I can't unsee it. Maybe you can get idea in the mirror pic. On some its like an oreo: blonde, then brown, and blonde on the lower part. I even noticed the stylist not coming all the way down on the hair before tucking it in to the foil and I asked about it...Pretty disappointed for 170 bucks.
